On the latest Good NABUR Spotlight, I had a chance to talk with Green Valley/Sahuarita Volunteer Clearinghouse Executive Director Joyce Finkelstein during National Volunteer Week about her 20-plus years with the organization and why volunteering in the community is so special to her. 

When was the last time you volunteered, and how did it make you feel?

The Quail Crossing Boulevard project is nearing completion, and phase II, running from Old Nogales Highway to the Anza Trailhead, is the final phase of the project.

It includes a bridge stretching across about 200 feet of the Santa Cruz River, a single two-way multi-use asphalt path for biking and pedestrians and a new traffic signal at Old Nogales Highway and the entrance to Quail Creek. 

The project is scheduled to be completed by January 2023.

Walden Grove had its best defensive performance of the season in a 34-6 romp past Pueblo on homecoming night on Friday.

Do you have any memorable experiences playing organized sports?

The Green Valley News, Sahuarita Sun and Nogales International honored nearly two dozen key figures in the I-19 region on Sept. 13, 2022 during the fifth annual AZ19 Most Influential People awards.
