On this day in (July 14) in 1882, famous gunfighter outlaw John Ringo was found dead in Morse Canyon, Ariz., in Cochise County.

Nicknamed “Dutch,” his reputation as a refined gentleman you didn't want to cross followed him during his life and became mythicized into Western lore after his mysterious death.

His name has become synonymous with the Wild West, Tombstone, notorious outlaw William Brocius (Curly Bill), lawman Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday.
